F-1 Pre-Arrival Video Series | UC San Francisco
 

Outcome: Online Module with Survey 

Description: A series of short informational videos covering a range of topics from getting to know San Francisco to campus safety and preparing a pre-departure checklist. Each video is followed by a set of corresponding questions. The intended goal is to prepare international students for their arrival at UCSF and introduce useful resources as they acclimate to the community.

Co-curricular Programming | UC San Francisco
 

Outcome: Final Assessment Report  & Testimonial Video (on left)

Description: Co-curricular course designed for international postdocs transitioning into the U.S. biotechnology industry. The primary goal was to familiarize international postdocs with the nuances of interviewing for a non-academic position in the U.S. context. Topics ranged from first impressions and handshakes to compensation negotiation strategies.

Community Building Events | UC San Francisco

Outcome: Reflection paper

Description: In an effort to engage the international student and scholar population the UCSF International Students and Scholars Office hosts a monthly community building meeting at the local Pub. The meeting gives any international student or  scholar interested, the opportunity to discuss and plan social activities for the next month.

Past activities: Exploring the Mission District, First Friday in Oakland, NightLife at the Academy of Sciences, Ocean Beach Bonfire, etc.

Outcome: Benchmarking Report w/ Recommendations

Description: The UCSD Triton Edge Program offers first year, degree seeking international students the opportunity to take credit-bearing coursework while acclimating to life in the U.S. As graduate consultants, my colleague and I conducted a benchmarking report in order to inform best practices and get a sense of the current landscape of transitional programming.
